Anne Pastor, producer of documentaries at Radio France and of the platform “Native women voice”, meets in Rwanda, in July 2019, Godelieve Mukasarasi of the organization Sevota (Solidarity for the development of widows and orphans aiming at work and self-promotion), which offers psychological and financial support to widows of the genocide, rape survivors as well as to these unwanted children and orphans. Today, Sevota brings together 80 organisations and more than 2,000 members and provides psychological, but also financial, social and educational support. In 25 years, Sevota has supported more than 72,000 people.
It is carrying out its portrait within the framework of the platform ” native women voice”.
At Sevota’s request, En Terre Indigène is going back to Rwanda and in March 2020, it will hold a workshop to publish the testimonies of these women survivors of the genocide.
Written in Kinyarwanda and French, this book is primarily aimed at the Rwandan public. The Bakame publishing house has agreed in principle to a co-edition.
It is intended to be an educational tool for the generations of today and tomorrow. It will be made available in libraries, universities, schools and places of memory …
Its release is scheduled to take place in Kigali in March 2021 and will be accompanied by conferences in the country, then a release in Europe may be considered.
Prefaced by the Rwandan artist Dorothée Munyaneza, who in her show “Unwanted” restored dignity to raped women and unwanted children, this book will be post-faced by Immaculée Ingabire of Transparency International Rwanda, very involved since 1995 with women survivors.
The Chanel Foundation for the promotion of women and girls supports this project through the association En Terre Indigène. The latter wishes to donate the profits from its share of co-edition to the Sevota organization.
To be continued in episode 2, the return to the land of a thousand hills…
