Saturday April 11th: presentation of the platform

I am delighted to welcome you to this first facebooklive of Indigenous women’s voices and to present you this documentary platform that highlights exemplary women who are a laboratory of ideas for tomorrow.

I propose a presentation of the platform followed by the most important, a time for exchange…so don’t hesitate to ask questions about the conversation right now.
Let me introduce myself, Anne Pastor, I am a journalist and documentary filmmaker, author of this platform and I have been working with indigenous peoples for 15 years.

Already a little reminder of the definition of autochthony.

So to be Indigenous is to be the first inhabitant of a territory, we think of course of the Amerindians … it is to live with one’s language, beliefs, world vision, knowledge, in short one’s own identity … but it is also to be a minority threatened their rights are flouted their land is coveted, their traditions are despised … There are nearly 380 million of them in the world including 150 million women.
And it is during the realization of nearly 40 documentaries on France Inter within the framework of the series “Voyage en Terre Indigène” that I was struck by their faculty of resistance, sometimes several centuries long, and that I discover their richness…and in particular those women who are in the forefront in the communities.
They are our mothers, our sisters, our past and our future whether they are Amerindian from Quebec, Kanak from New Caledonia or Amazigh from Morocco….

But 70 years after the declaration of human rights, while 2019 is the year of indigenous languages, they are still very often exploited and discriminated against and have to fight for their place and recognition.
Today, some of them are fighting against these injustices and their actions are a model of resistance and emancipation.
Their way of thinking and acting challenges us, whether on the issue of climate change, education, justice, poverty or gender-based violence.
They are a laboratory of ideas for tomorrow, so perhaps it is time to listen to them and build a future together. This is the “Voice of Indigenous Women” project, which aims to disseminate the voices of indigenous women through a documentary platform, exhibitions and conferences. In less than a year and a half, 20 portraits of women in 17 countries have been produced and we have grouped them into several themes that I am going to present to you.

Saturday April 18th: the voice of nature

Nice to meet you again for this second live facebook of Indigenous women voices. I remind you that this platform highlights exemplary women who are a laboratory of ideas for tomorrow.

Before you start, feel free to share this live facebook.

So at 48H of the World Earth Day, I propose you to discover four ecofeminists and their original initiatives. because in these societies, they found themselves in the front line in the fight against extractivism. Their commitments and actions, as you will hear, show us the way to a more just and sustainable world.

Saturday April 25th: The voice of emancipation / Part 1

Nice to meet you again for this third live facebook of the Indigenous women voices. I remind you that this platform highlights exemplary women who are a laboratory of ideas for tomorrow.

Before you start, do not hesitate to share this live facebook.

So today we are going to discover 4 women and more than 4 continents who are campaigning for women’s rights and in particular against violence of any kind. And unfortunately in times of confinement … promiscuity and isolation are breeding grounds for acts of violence against women.

According to the Ministry of the Interior, violence has increased by more than 30% and two feminicides are already to be deplored.

Some women are fighting, their actions are a model of resistance and emancipation.
